Beach from Nowhere
Tonight I found out that have I won third place (Documentary) at my school's spring show, which I have to say was a nice extra present after finding and buying my new bicycle this morning. But while messing with some old images freshly scanned for the first time, I began to think about how I don't share them like I used to (I got tired of Flickr). In remedy I decided to try to post more frequently on here.
Beach from Nowhere, 2009/10
I scanned this negative in a couple of weeks ago with a whole bunch of film. At the time I did not properly label the image, so I actually am not sure where I took it. Living in the Bay Area, a foggy beach is nothing out of the ordinary, but there are many others I have been on in the past months outside of California. Of course all I would have to do is pull out the negative, but I like the mystery behind it. Usually I remember everything surrounding a moment.

Bob and Becky
My friends, Bob and Becky, were married a couple weeks ago in Mexico. While I was there I made a little documentary of their musicians, Danny and Julie (the groom's sister).

These boots...
Moonlight

It has been a while, but I finished a new painting. I've had some time on my hands with the decision to primarily take electives this semester. So projects I have put aside to focus on school work are having a chance to be picked up and finished.
This painting is an adaptation of a photograph I took my freshman year at school.

Day Dreaming

Yesterday morning was perfect to open the window and read a book. The chirps outside reminded me of the birds in Austin (except, of course, the grackles) on many similar mornings. I began day dreaming of slow Texas mornings, about mid spring when it's rained the night before and the world seems all anew. Through the bedroom window of my last house there I would watch the birds eating bugs in my yard. Sometimes a squirrel would be barking too. Occasionally I see those moments here, but they never feel quite the same. At least Oakland has squirrels. Unlike San Francisco, which is a strangely squirrel less place.
